Components of a Gutter System
- Gutters: Horizontal troughs that collect rainwater along the roof edge. These are usually made of aluminum, vinyl, steel, or copper.
- Downspouts: Vertical pipes that carry water from the gutter to the ground level. Downspouts may have additional features, like splash blocks or extenders, to direct water farther away from the building.
- Elbows: Angled pieces that connect sections of downspouts or direct them around obstacles.
- EndCaps: Pieces that seal the ends of the gutter run, preventing water from flowing out.
- Gutter Guards or Screens: Covers or inserts that help prevent debris, like leaves and twigs, from clogging the gutters.
- Hangers or Brackets: Mounts that attach gutters to the roofline, ensuring they stay in place during heavy rainfall or snowfall.
